Several key events will be taking place in Dubai in the first six months of 2014, from the Dubai Shopping Festival and Omega Dubai Desert Classic in January through to the Arabian Travel Market in May.
Promoting Dubai as a key events destination is one of the three pillars that Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing has set out to deliver under the Tourism 2020 Strategy.
The Omega Dubai Desert Classic will celebrate its 25th anniversary at Emirates Golf Club from 27th January to 2nd February 2014. The tournament is now the longest-running European Tour event in Asia and the MENA region – “A jewel in the desert,” as George O’Grady, Chief Executive of The European Tour, calls it.
Headlining arguably the strongest Omega Dubai Desert Classic field in its illustrious history will be a plethora of past champions, along with a host of the European Tour’s elite golfers at the US$2.5 million event, promoted and organised by Golf in Dubai.
Invitations have been extended to all former champions, and a number of special events are being planned to mark the landmark occasion. Included in the field will be the 2013 champion, Stephen Gallacher, who will seek to become the first player to successfully defend his title.
