Passport Office Advises Allow Six Weeks for New Passport!

More Irish people are travelling abroad this year and passport demand, both new and renewal, is high. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has re-located the Dublin Passport Office from Molesworth Street to a new state-of-the-art facility on Mount Street. However, turnaround times can vary depending on demand and seasonal factors, so allow for up to six weeks when applying for a new passport.

With up to 100,000 Irish people expected to visit France in June for the Euro 2016 soccer tournament, the Department is working with the French authorities, UEFA, the FAI and other partners to ensure safe travel.

Travel agents a have a vital role in advising clients about checking their passport expiry when they book a trip.

The Passport Card is a credit card-sized passport that can be used to travel to 31 European countries. The card costs €35 and is valid for five years.
