Passenger Numbers on Track for 8% Growth in 2016 at Cork Airport

Cork Airport is continuing with its positive growth trend with passenger numbers for July showing another increase.

Niall MacCarthy, Managing Director, said: “We are delighted with the strong growth in commercial aircraft movements once again in Cork in July (+14.4%), which is the strongest growth of all three national airports. We are now working hard to ensure that growth continues right through the winter months.”

New flights set to take to the air for the winter season and scheduled to commence on the October Bank Holiday weekend and run through to next March include:

Aer Lingus – Lanzarote: increase from 2-3 to 4 weekly

Aer Lingus – Malaga: increase from 2-3 to 2-4 weekly

Ryanair – Gran Canaria: new winter operation (1 weekly)

Ryanair – Malaga: new winter operation (2 weekly)

Ryanair – Tenerife-South: new winter operation (1 weekly)

Stobart Air – Glasgow: increase from 4 to 5 weekly

Stobart Air – Manchester: increase from 14 to 18 weekly

Stobart Air – Southampton: new winter operation (4 weekly)

This represents greater choice for Munster people this winter season and further opportunity for foreign inbound tourism. The team at Cork Airport are working on other opportunities for summer 2017 and will announce these later this year.
