New International Travel Event for India in 2012

New International Travel Event for India in 2012

At this month’s annual PATA Travel Mart in New Delhi, the Indian Minister for Tourism, Shri Subodh Kant Sahiai, announced that his Department is in the final stages of planning an annual travel trade event that will commence next year in New Delhi or another major city.

The main object of this new Government-sponsored event will be to increase the number of international visitors to India. Industry sources are also of the opinion that this new event will decrease the number of smaller, privately organised regional events.

He also announced an increase of 10% in visitor arrivals for the first eight months of the year. India also has a staggering 806 million domestic visitor market. India is now a 365-day destination and the tourism industry is growing at an even higher pace than India’s overall growth rate of more than 8% per annum.

‘Incredible !ndia’ is fast becoming a must visit destination for the Irish traveller.
