Don Shearer Resigns as Chief Executive of Worldchoice Ireland

In a shock move, Michael Doorley, Chairman, Worldchoice Ireland, announced that Don Shearer is resigning as Chief Executive of Worldchoice Ireland and will complete his term at the end of December.

Don has completed two very successful years as Chief Executive and wishes to pursue new challenges. During his term he has single handedly increased the profile of Worldchoice Ireland, increased overrides earned by members by more than 40%, and brought to fruition the best travel website of any of the agent groupings in the industry, from which 14 members have created or renewed their own websites. He has also successfully streamlined the accounting and payment of override commissions after trojan work in unravelling the previous systems.

“I wish Don every success in his new ventures and thank him for his energy and commitment in making Worldchoice Ireland a valuable organisation to all members,” said Michael Doorley.

There is no doubt that this announcement will come as a massive shock to Worldchoice members and the travel industry in general. With first-hand experience using the Worldchoice hub, I understand why Michael Doorley believes it is the best travel website of any of the agent groupings in the industry.

A larger than life character, Don Shearer is popular with all members of the travel trade and will be sorely missed. Let’s hope Don decides to stay in the travel business – no doubt, with his extraordinary skill set, he will have numerous organisations knocking at his door.

We wish him every success with his future plans.
